Brigadier General (Ret) Paul W. Tibbets Jr. died November 1, 2007 at his home near Columbus, Ohio. He was 92. General Tibbets will be remembered for piloting the Enola Gay, a B-29 superfortress that dropped the first atomic bomb ever used in combat. He had a mission -- to win the war, to end the war.

He was a soldier, a husband, a father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
